Nordic Walking

The bane of the modern business woman's life is stress. The word STRESS is a much misunderstood and misused word. One person will say the stress of their job is making them ill and another person will say they need a certain amount of stress for them to work at their best. The first person is under too much pressure, either of their own making or that of their bosses, to live and work in comfort. Too much pressure is called DIS-stress (as in distress). The second person is managing the pressure to their advantage and this is called EU-stress (as in euphoria).

What we now refer to as stress is the fight or flight reflex where adrenalin is pumped into the body to slay and eat the wild boar or to run away from the sabre-tooth tiger to live and fight another day. In modern day culture we neither fight nor flee and the adrenalin juice just sits there and ultimately damages our will and our body.

Any form of exercise will use up this adrenalin but Nordic Walking is one of the few full body, non-ballistic exercises that takes you into the countryside, fresh air and natural daylight. These four elements increase the promotion of endorphins, serotonin and other feel good hormones at the same time as burning off the adrenalin.

Often at the end of a nordic walk the participant will find that they feel refreshed and with a more positive attitude. Nordic Walking does not solve your problems but will help you to manage the stress associated with them.
